WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump engaged in a verbal altercation with Democratic Governor from Maine, Janet Mills when he threatened to cut her state off from federal education funding.
During the annual meeting between the president and the leaders of states, resorted to threatening the Maine Democrat when she challenged the executive order banning transgender women from female sports.
As Mills, 77, clarified her stance in opposition to Trump’s executive order, the president reminded her that if she didn’t comply, her state would not be getting any federal funding, per The Irish Star.
Donald Trump gets into spat with Maine Governor Janet Mills
During the meeting on Friday, February 21, Donald Trump called Janet Mills out, while asking whether she would be complying with the executive order banning transgender athletes competing in women’s sports. He asked, “Are you not going to comply with it?”
However, Mills replied diplomatically, stating, “I’m complying with state and federal laws.”
Trump, not pleased with the answer, responded, “Well, we are the federal law,” before continuing, “You better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funding at all if you don’t.”

He added further, “Your population, even though it’s somewhat liberal, although I did very well there, your population doesn’t want men playing in women’s sports, so you better comply because otherwise you’re not getting any federal funding.”
Mills, however, responded curtly, “We’ll see you in court,” to which the president retorted quickly, “Good, I’ll see you in court.”

He continued as an added measure, “I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one. And enjoy your life after governor because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”
Donald Trump said ‘war on women’s sports is over’
Recently, President Trump signed an executive order that prevents transgender women from participating in female categories of sports. The order, operating at the grassroots level, provides regulations to the sports in schools, and universities, among others, per BBC.
Ahead of signing the order, declared, “the war on women’s sports is over”, while adding that during the LA Games, “my administration will not stand by and watch men beat and batter female athletes”.

He also added that he would direct the secretary of homeland security “to deny any and all visa applications made by men attempting to fraudulently enter the United States while identifying themselves as women athletes…”
Internet slams Donald Trump for threatening Maine Governor
Social media users, naturally, had lot to say, as many, including author Stephen King, did not like Donald Trump threatening Maine Governor Janet Mills during the Friday meeting.
King wrote, “Governor Janet Mills to Trump: “See you in court.” Makes me proud to be a Maine man. Thank you, Governor, for standing up to the bully.”
Someone else added, “Maine Gov Janet Mills has more courage than the entire United States congress!”
“🍊 Tried to strong-arm Janet Mills with a pathetic funding threat, and she shut him down with “See you in court.” His mob-boss cosplay is laughable—he has zero power to strip Maine’s funding, and SCOTUS already ruled against this kind of blackmail. Mills didn’t just stand her ground; she stomped his BS into the dirt. Another weak, empty threat from a wannabe 🍊 king,” chimed in someone else.
A user asked, “This is the state of US politics? A president is threatening a governor for not listening to him? Trump brings together the worst of us and divides the rest of us… man we are going back in time in a bad way.”
“Just letting everyone know that: 1. President has no authority to block funds allocated by Congress per the 10th Amendment. 2. Maine is a completely Dem state and only trends GOP when Trump is on the ballot (which he won’t ever be again….and if he tries we’ll have civil war),” declared someone else.
